Top-Rated Campground on the Klutina River

King For A Day Campground sits right on the banks of the Klutina River in Copper Center, Alaska—one of the best salmon fishing rivers in the state. Whether you’re here for the fishing, the scenery, or just a place to park your rig and unwind in the Alaskan wilderness, this is where it starts.

We’ve welcomed guests for over a decade. Families return to “their spot” year after year, and anglers come from all over to chase salmon from June through August. Experience camping on a glacier-fed river, surrounded by mountains and wildlife you won’t find in the Lower 48.

Conveniently located along the Richardson Highway corridor, we’re situated between the Old Richardson Highway and the main Richardson Highway—just a scenic drive from Anchorage, Valdez, or Gulkana Airport.

Campsites & Cabins for Every Kind of Stay

We offer tent sites, RV sites, electric and water hookups, cabins and luxury glamping tents. Whether you’re camping for the weekend or staying for the season, we have a spot for you.

Fish Right From Camp

Most campgrounds make you drive to the fishing. At King For A Day, the fishing comes to you. The Klutina River runs right through the property, and many of our sites are steps from the water. Cast for sockeye from the bank before breakfast, or book a guided fishing trip and fish with one of our guides.

If you’re new to flossing for salmon or just want to sharpen your technique, we offer hands-on fishing lessons and in-depth clinics with one of our guides. All instruction is hands on and happens right here on the campground banks.

Campground Amenities

More Than Just Fishing

Wrangell-St. Elias National Park is nearby. Historic Copper Center Lodge, the George Ashby Memorial Museum, and some of Alaska’s most impressive landscapes are all within reach.
