AK Charters offers guided fishing trips on the Klutina, Gulkana, and Copper Rivers from King For A Day Campground in Copper Center, Alaska. We’re a local charter run by someone who knows these waters, enhancing your chances of catching fish.
We focus on the Klutina River for bigger fish and better scenery, while others go to the Kenai. Our guides supply gear and instruction for all skill levels.
Signature trip. ATV up Klutina Lake road, float back, stopping for salmon. Alternatively, drive to Gulkana River. Full-day trip with return transportation to KFAD. Larger parties can be accommodated.
A 30-mile ATV ride up to Klutina Lake and prime fishing spots on the upper river. Target trophy-size grayling, dolly varden, and Copper River reds in remote water most people never see. Full-day trip. Season: May through September.
ATV up Klutina Lake road and float down the river. Enjoy Alaska’s scenery: eagles, dall sheep, moose, and bears. Bring cameras. Larger parties can use extra boats. No fishing.
Learn to floss for sockeye at King For A Day Campground. Our guide covers rig tying, river reading, and filleting your catch. Lessons last 3 fish or 3 hours, whichever comes first, with no group size limits.

What to Bring: Waders if you have them (or we’ll provide), rain gear, layers, and your Alaska fishing license (required before the lesson)

You’ll learn the lifecycle of the glacial salmon species that run these rivers, how to choose the right rod and reel, how to tie your rig, why the color of yarn you choose actually matters, and how to cast properly before you ever walk down to the bank. By the end, you’ll understand why the fish don’t bite, why flossing works, and how to fillet and debone like a pro.
All fishing charters include rods, tackle, flies, waders, bait, and life vests. You just need to bring lunch, water, rain gear, layers of clothing, and a camera. Limit one bag or backpack per person.
